Hans Bünting

Hans Bünting (also: Johann Bünting and Hans Buntinck ; * before 1538 in Langenhagen , † after 1555 ) was a German goldsmith .

Life

Hans Bünting was the son of a freeman in Langenhagen. He settled in Hanover in 1538 as a goldsmith and silver worker.

Bünting married Helena, daughter of the land rent master Heinrich Lorleberg . The couple became parents of the later Protestant clergyman and historian Heinrich Bünting, who was born in Hanover in 1545, and his brother and later Hanoverian syndic Konrad Bünting .

For the Duchess Elisabeth , born Marchioness of Brandenburg , created Bünting the price of 6 dollars a golden ring whose payment he writing from Hanover on the day St. Martin brought in 1548 "strongly remembered."

Among the most famous works Büntings 1555 donated by him and together with the sculptor counts Arndt Siem Erding as public art created sundial on the church tower in the Hanover Market Church St. Jacobi et Georgii . The sundial attached to the top right of the staircase tower of the church is the younger of the two sundials in the sacred building; the one on the left of the pillar dates from the 13th century.
