Hans Danioth

Hans Danioth (born May 25, 1931 in Andermatt , entitled to live in Andermatt; † August 22, 2020 ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Danioth, whose father Ludwig was also an active politician, studied law at the University of Freiburg and the University of Bern . In 1956 he obtained his licentiate in Freiburg . In 1958 he was admitted to the bar and notary public in the canton of Uri . From 1958 to 1966 he was a court clerk and from 1967 had his own lawyer and notary office in Altdorf .

From 1969 to 1975 he was president of the Conservative Christian Social People's Party , and from 1971 of the CVP Uri. From 1976 to 1978 he was local councilor of Altdorf and from 1972 to 1978 district administrator of Uri. From 1978 to 1988 he was a member of the government , where he headed the education department; from 1980 to 1982 he was Landammann . On November 30, 1987, he was elected to the Council of States , where he was a member of various commissions. His main focus was on transport policy , as well as state policy issues. At times he was president of the supervisory delegation of the NEAT . In the 1999 parliamentary elections, he did not run, and therefore left the small chamber on December 5, 1999. From 1991 to 1995 he was President of the Uri Higher Court. Danioth held various board memberships and worked on various cultural, social and political committees.

Danioth was married with two children and lived in Altdorf. He was a captain in the Swiss Army . He died in a retirement home after a long illness.
