Hans Eggert Schröder
Hans Eggert Schröder (born December 13, 1905 in Altona ; † May 27, 1985 in Marbach am Neckar ) was a German author, private scholar, publishing consultant and editor, and head of the Klages archive in the Schiller National Museum in Marbach am Neckar.
His main work was an - unfinished - biography of the philosopher , psychologist and founder of graphology , Ludwig Klages . Many unpublished sources were available to him. In addition to the holdings of the Klages archive in the Schiller National Museum in Marbach, he also made use of privately owned documents such as diaries, transcripts of conversations and oral reports from the area around Klages. Franz Tenigl published an abridged version of Schröder's unfinished manuscript, comprising a thousand typewriter pages , and added 40 pages to Klages' last 17 years. In 1966, Der Spiegel judged Schröder that the first volume of his recently published Klages biography identified him as “an uncritical admirer of his hero”, who ignored anti-Semitic passages.
The friendship between Klages and the Jewish philosopher Theodor Lessing , which had diverged in the dispute, was dealt with by Schröder in a commentary on Lessing's autobiography, in which he postulated Lessing's intellectual dependency, even though it is considered certain that both influence one another to have.
