Hans Heinrich Palitzsch (born December 7, 1912 in Dresden ; † October 20, 2005 in Gauting ) was a German painter, set designer and commercial artist.

Life

Palitzsch studied in Dresden and Berlin from 1930 to 1934 . Until 1939 he worked as a freelance commercial artist, together with his younger brother Peter Palitzsch , and as a theater painter and assistant set designer for Karl von Appen in Dresden. After participating in the war from 1939 to 1945: “Participation in the reconstruction of the city of Dresden”. From 1947 to 1949 he was a set designer in Stuttgart , from 1951 to 1957 in Ulm and Mannheim . During this time he was a member of the board of directors and a teacher of commercial graphics and writing at the Free Academy Mannheim.

Palitzsch was director of equipment at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven (1949–1951), the Landestheatern Linz (1957–1960) and Darmstadt (1960–1961), from 1968 to 1973 in Oldenburg and finally from 1973 until his retirement in 1985 at the Stadttheater Würzburg .

Since 1961 he has also worked as a freelance guest stage designer, among others at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen .

Whereabouts of the work (selection)

Six paintings by Hans Heinrich Palitzsch from 1945 to 1988 belong to the collection of the Galerie Neue Meister in the Albertinum , with Fahnen der Nacht being probably the best-known work.

Thanks to a donation from the actor Sascha Römisch , the Ulm Theater is in possession of a bundle of originals from theater advertising from the 1950s.
