Hans Källner

Hans Källner (born October 9, 1898 in Kattowitz ; † April 18, 1945 near Sokolnitz ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Källner became effective on June 6, 1915 during the First World War as a volunteer in the Jäger Regiment on horseback no. 11 a. On October 13, 1915, he was first transferred to the Cavalry Replacement Regiment of the II Army Corps and 14 days later to the motorized replacement squadron of the Jäger Regiment on Horse No. 11. There followed on 28 April 1916 was promoted to corporal and on 2 December 1916, the transfer to the reserve Dragoon Rifle Regiment. 13. On August 15, 1935, Källner was accepted into the army of the Wehrmacht and served in the 18th Cavalry Regiment . As commander of the reconnaissance department of the 11th Infantry Division , he took part in the Polish and western campaigns at the beginning of World War II . At the beginning of the Russian campaign he became the commander of the 73rd Rifle Regiment . From April 15, 1943, Källner was in the Führerreserve and from May 3rd to 29th, 1943 he was sent to Berlin for a division leader course. He was then commissioned on August 18, 1943 to lead the 19th Panzer Division and on November 1, 1943 he was appointed its commander while being promoted to major general . As lieutenant general (since June 1, 1944), Källner was commissioned to lead the XXIV Panzer Corps shortly before the end of the war . In this position he fell on April 18, 1945 near Brno .
