Hans Klees
Hans Klees (born March 25, 1930 in Gronig ; † May 2, 2007 in Erlangen ) was a German ancient historian . After studying Greek , Latin and history at the universities of Saarbrücken and Tübingen , he received his doctorate in ancient history in 1958 after passing the first and second state exams . From 1962 to 1973 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Classical Antiquity in Kiel and at the Erlangen Chair for Ancient History. There he received the license to teach ancient history in 1972 and was appointed to the scientific council in 1973 and an adjunct professor in 1978 . In 1993 he took early retirement due to serious illness.
His research focus was the area of Greek history with special consideration of social and religious history.
