Hans Leitherer
Hans Leitherer (born December 13, 1885 in Frankenthal (Pfalz) , † November 15, 1963 in Bamberg ) was a German sculptor.
Life
Hans Leitherer was a student of Balthasar Schmitt at the Royal Art Academy in Munich . After his training he settled in Bamberg. There and in the area around the city he created numerous sculptures and was the author of a guide through the art world of Bamberg.
Works
- 1921: Memorial plaque in the former high school of Bamberg University .
- 1922: War memorial in Gaustadt , part of the city of Bamberg (with A. Seidlein).
- 1924: War memorial in Hohenpölz , district of the Heiligenstadt market in Upper Franconia
- One of his designs is the Turner monument in Bamberg's Volkspark , which was erected together with the park on the occasion of the Bavarian State Gymnastics Festival in 1926.
- 1927: Copy of the stone figure "Johann Nepomuk" (Am Kanal, Obere Brücke der Regnitz; list of monuments )
- 1930: Nepomuk figure on the Wiesent Bridge in Ebermannstadt ( list of monuments )
- 1933: Fountain with a small figure of a market woman on the Green Market ( list of monuments )
- Reconstruction of the so-called “Metzgermarter” (from 1565) in the community of Bischberg .
family
His son Hermann (1919–1991) was also a sculptor. His grandson is the sculptor Thomas Leitherer, who lives in Breitengüßbach .
