Hans Lorenz von Kuefstein

Hans Lorenz I von Kuefstein (also Laurenz) (* around 1496 ; † April 24, 1547 , buried in Röhrenbach ) was an Austrian nobleman and sub-marshal of Lower Austria .

Life

Hans Lorenz was the son of Johann Georg II von Kuefstein (1645–1699) and Katharina Püchler, daughter of Ulrich Püchler von Rieggers and Margareta (Marusch) Hager von Allentsteig. Hans Lorenz was the nurse of Senftenberg (1533) and from 1537 a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and at the same time the war payer of the estates. In 1538 he became a committee member and 1540–1541 Rait commissioner. From around 1541 to 1543 he was a sub-marshal and associated royal council. As sub-marshal, he had the first inventory of the Estates archives drawn up. He also began to build up the Kuefsteiner's private archive. In 1534, Hans Lorenz bought the property of his wife Barbara Volkra Veste and the Greillenstein estate from their relatives.

Hans Lorenz Ritter von Kuefstein married Barbara Volkra, daughter of Stephan von Volckra zu Dornach and Barbara Thalheim (Thalhamm) around 1524 . Of the at least seven children, only Hans Georg III., Who later became Vicedom from Lower Austria , and four daughters reached adulthood.
