Hans Michael Jebsen (born November 15, 1956 in Siegen ) is a Danish ship owner , entrepreneur and CEO of the globally operating trading company Jebsen & Co.

life and work

Hans Michael Jebsen lives in Hong Kong . Up to the age of 15 he grew up with his mother in Rendsburg and attended the humanistic high school there . In 1972 he moved to live with his father in Aabenraa , attended the German high school for North Schleswig and passed his Abitur in 1975. This was followed by a two-year banking apprenticeship at the Vereins- und Westbank in Flensburg and Hamburg and an 18-month traineeship in London at the Merchant Bank of the Inchcape Group Gray, Dawes & Co. Ltd. and the import and export company Gray, Mackenzie & Co. Ltd., which is also part of the group. At the end of his time in London, Hans Michael Jebsen sat in on the private bank Anthony Gibbs, one of the oldest accepting houses in the City of London.

This practical training was followed by a three-year business and economics degree at the University of Economics and Social Sciences in St. Gallen (today: University of St. Gallen - University of Economics, Law and Social Sciences) in Switzerland. Due to the early death of his father, Hans Jacob Jebsen , in 1979, Hans Michael Jebsen moved to Hong Kong as early as 1981 and was there in the management of the company of his uncle Michael Jebsen jun. Jebsen & Co Ltd. recorded. In the same year he became a junior partner in the company alongside his uncle and, after his uncle's death in 2000, became CEO of the globally operating trading company. Hans Michael Jebsen married Désirée Countess Schaffgotsch in 1987, the daughter of the Silesian banker and industrialist, Imperial Count Hans Ulrich Schaffgotsch . The marriage has five children.

After the death of his uncle in 2000 he took over the family seat "Lensnack". From 2000 to 2004 he had the manor house of the Groß Brütz manor near Schwerin , which his mother had transferred to him in 1999, restored, which his great-grandfather Georg Johannes Bock had acquired from the von Lützow family in 1862, but was expropriated after the Second World War during the GDR era . Today the manor house serves as a guest house. In 2001 Michael Jebsen bought Orebygaard Castle near Sakskøbing on Lolland . In 2009/2010 he had the head office of the M. Jebsen shipping company completely renovated and equipped with a new facade.
