Life

origin

He was the son of Hans Georg von Bandemer and his wife Barbara Diana, née von Rotenburg (Hohenstoltz). His father was a landowner on Buchow near Stolpe.

Military career

In 1740 he came to the Berlin Cadet House and on May 1, 1743 he was assigned to the "von Münchow" infantry regiment. He became an ensign on August 7, 1744 and was involved in the siege of Prague and Kosel during the Second Silesian War . In February 1748 he became second lieutenant and on 7 December 1756 prime lieutenant . Bandemer was injured in the head during the Battle of Kolin on June 18, 1757. In the battle of Leuthen he was shot in his foot, an injury that no longer healed. In 1759 he was first staff captain and then captain in October .

After the catastrophic defeat for Prussia in the battle near Maxen , Bandemer was commissioned to reorganize the remnants of his battalion in the Schweidnitz fortress. But when the fortress was captured on October 1, 1761, Bandemer was taken prisoner wounded. He had bravely defended Fort No. 4 earlier.

His injuries made him unfit for field service and so after the war he became lieutenant colonel and commander of Fort Prussia in the fortress Neisse on November 1, 1769 . On September 2, 1787 he was promoted to colonel and appointed in command of the Glatz Fortress. In this position he was promoted to major general on August 2, 1788 .

Bandemer died unmarried in Glatz in November 1788.
