Harald Augter

Harald Augter (born June 27, 1946 in Kiel ; † February 5, 2015 in Mainz ) was a German lawyer and association official.

Life

Augter, son of an entrepreneur and captain from Kiel, studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen after graduating from school . In 1975 he joined the liability association of German industry (HDI) in Stuttgart . After working in Hamburg and Kassel , he took over the management of the HDI branch in Mainz in 1984 . In 1993 he was appointed management spokesman. He held this position until he retired in 2013.

In addition to his professional activity, he was President of the IHK for Rheinhessen from 1998 to 2013 and, as a delegate from the IHK Rhineland-Palatinate, headed the Broadcasting Council of the Südwestrundfunk from 2008 until his death . He had been a member of the council since 2002. As a member of the SWR Broadcasting Council, Augter had also been a member of the ARD supervisory board since 2008 and its chairman in 2009 and 2010.

Augter was also very involved in voluntary work. He was chairman of the Kulturfonds Mainzer Wirtschaft e. V. In 2002 he took over the office of President of the German-Croatian Society and on January 6, 2004 he became Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia . In March 2012 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Association of Taxpayers Rhineland-Palatinate e. V. elected. Augter was also involved as a board member of the German-Croatian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Zagreb . In his private life, he was also a member of the Grand Council, the committee and the executive board of the Mainz Carneval Club (MCC).

Augter died after a short illness at the age of 68. He was buried in the main cemetery in Mainz .

Awards

On December 28, 2004, Augter was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to society - especially the German-Croatian friendship and the vocational training of young people . The IHK Rheinhessen honored him in 2013 with the Gold Medal of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Rheinhessen . In the same year he was the first to receive the Musik-Gordi of the Neue Musikzeitung .
