Harald Barrios

Harald Barrios (* 1961 in Heidelberg ) is a German political scientist. He is a private lecturer at the Institute for Political Science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .

Life

After graduating from high school in Heidelberg in 1981, Barrios studied political science and history at the University of Heidelberg (graduating Magister Artium 1990). From 1990 to 1992 he worked at the University of Heidelberg under Dieter Nohlen as an employee of the research focus "Political Organization and Representation in America". In 1993 he was a DAAD scholarship holder in Santiago de Chile , and from 1993 to 1994 he received a scholarship from the state of Baden-Württemberg . From 1994 to 2004 he worked as a research assistant , from 1999 at the Chair for Politics in Latin America and Development Theory with Andreas Boeckh at the University of Tübingen. In 1997 and 2000, Barrios was visiting professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver . In 1999 he was in Heidelberg Dieter Nohlen and Klaus von Beyme on "The foreign policy of young democracies in Latin America" doctorate . In 2004 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on “Brave New Deal? The US systemic competitiveness . Your Political Factors ”. Barrios has been a private lecturer at the IfP at the University of Tübingen since 2005.

He also teaches at the evening grammar school in Stuttgart and at the Eberhard Ludwigs grammar school in Stuttgart .

Fields of activity

Barrios deals with politics on the American continent , v. a. of Latin America and the development of democracy there; also with the political system of the USA and Spain and with the methods of comparative political science .
