Harald Sievers (* 1975 in Münster , Westphalia ) is a German jurist , local politicians of CDU and district administrator of the district of Ravensburg .

education and profession

Sievers grew up in the rural surroundings of Münster and attended the Paulinum grammar school in Münster, where he passed his Abitur in 1995. After studying law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in his hometown of Münster and at the universities of Geneva and Lausanne , he first worked at the chair for public law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University and later at the chair for public law, finance and tax law at Bielefeld University .

Following his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz and the second state examination in law, from 2005 he worked at the Federal Audit Office and at the Senator for Internal Affairs in Bremen . In addition, he was a lecturer in public law and European law at the University of Public Administration in Bremen .

Political career

After Sievers had been unanimously elected first alderman and city ​​treasurer by the Düren city council on June 19, 2007 , he took over the management of the general administration, finance and social affairs department of the city ​​of Düren on August 1, 2007 . There he was entrusted with the restructuring of the municipal finances and in 2014 was able to present the first structurally balanced budget since 1991. The remunicipalisation of Stadtwerke Düren and the award of the city of Düren as a model municipality for e-government also fell during his term of office . After a change in the political balance of power in the Düren city council in the 2014 local elections, his re-election as finance and social affairs officer had become unrealistic.

He then ran as the successor to Kurt Widmaier in the district council election in the Ravensburg district and was elected district administrator by the district council on March 19, 2015 in the first ballot with 41 of 68 valid votes cast. He took up his post on June 1, 2015.

Other offices

In his role as district administrator, Sievers is also chairman of the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Ravensburg as well as chairman of the supervisory board of Oberschwabenklinik gGmbH and Bodensee-Oberschwaben-Verkehrsverbundgesellschaft mbH and a member of the supervisory board of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG .
