Kurt Widmaier

Kurt Widmaier (born May 19, 1950 in Bad Waldsee ) is a CDU politician from Baden-Württemberg . From 1988 to 1998 he was government vice president in Tübingen and 1999-2015 District Administrator of the Ravensburg District .

education and profession

Kurt Widmaier grew up in Aulendorf , Bad Waldsee, Wangen im Allgäu and Rottweil . He passed his Abitur in 1970 in Wangen. After military service in Mengen and Meßstetten , he studied law in Tübingen . There he became a member of the Catholic student association AV Cheruskia Tübingen in the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations (CV). During his studies he worked as a journalist for the Schwäbische Zeitung . From 1979 to 1981 he was head of the legal and press office of the city of Kornwestheim .

Political career

From October 1981 Widmaier was an advisor in the Ministry of Social Affairs in Baden-Württemberg , from January 1, 1983 personal advisor to Social Minister Dietmar Schlee . When Schlee was appointed Minister of the Interior after the state elections in 1984, Widmaier also moved to the Ministry of the Interior .

In August 1988 he became Vice President of the Government of Tübingen. From 1998 to 1999 Widmaier was managing director of the Academy for Technology Assessment in Baden-Württemberg.

Since November 1, 1999, he has been the district administrator of the Ravensburg district; on August 2, 2007, he was re-elected to this office without a candidate in the first ballot by the district council with 59 of 62 votes cast and three abstentions.

Other offices

Widmaier is chairman of the board of trustees of the Deutsche Kinderkrebsnachorge - Foundation for the chronically ill child and a member of the supervisory board of the Center for Psychiatry Weissenau.

In his role as district administrator, he was chairman of the administrative board of the Upper Swabian Electricity Works Association (OEW) from 2006 to 2012 and deputy chairman of the OEW board from 2012 to 2015. He was also chairman of the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Ravensburg , chairman of the supervisory board of Oberschwabenklinik GmbH and Bodensee-Oberschwaben-Verkehrsverbundgesellschaft mbH and a member of the supervisory board of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG .
