Harry Pott

Harry Pott (born April 14, 1911 in Misburg , † April 20, 1985 in Hanover ) was a German social democratic local politician .

Life

Harry Pott, who was still born during the German Empire , initially completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter and printer after attending school . At the time of the Weimar Republic , he joined the SPD in 1928 .

During the Nazi era , Harry Pott worked in December 1936 and for more than three decades until 1971 at the Deurag-Nerag oil refinery in his hometown . Here he initially worked as a laboratory assistant and with the help of further training during the Second World War , he completed training at an evening school - as a chemical technician . In the post-war period , Harry Pott was already elected as a works council under the British military government ; a task that he performed until 1965. From 1956 to 1965, Pott also served as an employee representative on the Deurag-Nerag supervisory board for a while.

Meanwhile, from 1946 to 1948, Pott had initially worked as a member of the district council , and from 1948 to 1952 as mayor of Misburg. There he worked only a little later from 1956 to 1969 as an elected member of the city council, and until 1967 as chairman of the council assembly. During this period from 1956 to 1960 he was again a member of the district council.

In 1968 Pott was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his services to the rebuilding and reconstruction of Misburg after the World War .

After the incorporation of the city of Misburg into the capital of Lower Saxony, Harry Pott was a member of the Misburg District Council from June 9, 1974 to November 8, 1976.

Mayor-Pott-Weg

The Bürgermeister-Pott-Weg, which was laid out in 1992 in the Hanoverian district of Misburg-Nord east of Kleinertstrasse, was named after the social democratic local politician.
