Hartmut Kreikebaum

Hartmut Kreikebaum (born February 1, 1934 in Kleinhammer near Werdohl ; † July 1, 2016 ) was a German economist .

Life

Kreikebaum studied economics and business administration with Alfred Müller-Armack , Günter Schmölders and Erich Gutenberg at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the University of Cologne as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation from 1954 to 1959 . In 1958 he graduated with a degree in economics and in 1959 as a degree in business administration. In 1960 he was promoted to Dr. rer. pole. PhD. In 1961/62 he completed a master's degree in administrative sciences at Harvard University . After scientific assistance at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and working in internal auditing and organization atBoehringer Ingelheim , he completed his habilitation in 1970 in Cologne.

From 1971 until his retirement in 1999 he held the chair for industrial management with a focus on business ethics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . From 1980 to 1981 he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics there. Subsequently, on the initiative of Klaus Evard, he held the chair for international management at the EBS University of Economics and Law in Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau until 2013 . There he founded the Institute for Business Ethics in 2006 and was its Academic Director.

Act

Kreikebaum published 20 books and 130 articles on corporate governance, environmental policy and ethics. As early as the 1970s, he was committed to ecological sustainability and integrated environmental protection strategies. For many years he was involved in the Fulbright Commission , as well as a scientific advisory board of the Goethe Institute , in a selection committee of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and as a liaison professor for the Studienstiftung. He was a founding member of the German Business Ethics Network - EBEN Germany eV

As part of the research project on the “introduction and further development of strategic planning systems”, he was a visiting scholar at the Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (1981/82). He was also visiting professor at the Korean Kyung Hee University (1985) and at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck (1993, 1996 and 1997). Other research focuses included integrated corporate environmental protection and ethical conflicts in companies.

For his work in environmental and landscape protection, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class by Federal President Horst Köhler in 2010 .

The committed Protestant was married and had two children. He worked as a preacher of the Evangelical Church of Hesse-Nassau and was involved in numerous charitable tasks.
