Hartmut Schmidt (economist)
Hartmut Schmidt (born October 27, 1941 in Halle / Saale ) is a German business economist and emeritus professor for business administration (BWL) at the University of Hamburg .
Life
Hartmut Schmidt completed a degree in business administration from 1961 to 1966 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , the University of Cologne and the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . In 1966 he completed his studies as a business graduate (Dipl.-Kfm.).
From 1966 to 1969 Schmidt was a research associate at the Institute for Money, Banking and Stock Exchange at Saarland University (Director Wolfgang Stützel ). In 1967 he achieved the academic degree of Diplom-Handelslehrer (Dipl.-Hdl.). 1969 followed his doctorate to Dr. rer. oec. The topic of his dissertation was Exchange Organization for the Protection of Investors .
From 1969 to 1974 Schmidt had a job at the School of Management at Syracuse University in the United States of America (USA). There he was a lecturer from 1969 to 1970 , assistant professor from 1970 to 1973 and associate professor of finance from 1973 to 1974 .
From 1974 to 2006 Hartmut Schmidt was a full university professor and holder of the chair for general business administration (ABWL) with a focus on finance and banking at the Institute for Money and Capital Transactions at the University of Hamburg. From 1978 to 2006 he was Managing Director of the Institute for Money and Capital Transactions at the University of Hamburg. From 1992 to 1993 he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Hamburg.
Hartmut Schmidt retired on October 1, 2006.
Research priorities
His main research interests were microstructure and capital market .
