Hartmuth Wrocklage
Hartmuth Wrocklage (born September 15, 1939 in Quakenbrück ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to 2001 he was Senator for the Interior of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .
Wrocklage's family moved from Nortrup to Dortmund in 1949 , and then to Pinneberg in the early 1960s . There Wrocklage operated local politics and was also the local association chairman of the SPD in Pinneberg for some time . 1970 began his career in the Hamburg administration from government assessor to budget director in the tax authorities. In 1984 he became a Finance Councilor . On September 21, 1994 he became Senator for the Interior of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. During his time as interior minister he was also a year chairman of the Conference of Interior Ministers . He set up the Police Commission as a control body of independent experts to which both police officers and citizens could turn. After massive public criticism, especially from the newspapers of the Axel Springer Verlag , which accused him of nepotism , among other things , he resigned from his position as Senator for the Interior on May 28, 2001. After that, he largely withdrew from public politics and has since been active for the Humanist Union and Amnesty International , among others . He resigned his mandate as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Association of Insured on May 7, 2013.
