Harve Tibbott

Harve Tibbott (born May 27, 1885 near Ebensburg , Cambria County , Pennsylvania , †  December 31, 1969 there ) was an American politician . Between 1939 and 1949 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Harve Tibbott attended the public schools of his home country and then studied pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh until 1906 . Then he worked in Ebensburg as a pharmacist. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1913 and 1915 he was CFO of the William Penn Highway Association . From 1932 to 1935 he served as a chamberlain in Cambria County; in 1936 and 1937 he was a member of the state executive committee of his party. He also got into the banking industry and was President of the First National Bank of Ebensburg from 1938 .

In the 1938 congressional election , Tibbott was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 27th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat Joseph Anthony Gray on January 3, 1939 . After four re-elections, he was able to complete five legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1949 . Since 1945 he represented there as the successor of Louis E. Graham the 26th district of his state. By 1941, the Roosevelt government's last New Deal laws were passed. Since 1941, the work of the Congress was also shaped by the events of the Second World War and its consequences. Tibbott also saw the beginning of the Cold War as a congressman. In 1948 he was not re-elected.

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Harve Tibbott continued as President of the First National Bank of Ebensburg . He died on December 31, 1969 in Ebensburg, where he was also buried.
