The Haselbach is a 12 kilometer long right tributary of the Lorze in the Swiss canton of Zurich . It drains an area of 19.42 square kilometers in the Knonaueramt (Säuliamt) in the southwest of the canton.

The Haselbach rises at 561 m above sea level. M. near Hauptikon in the Brügimatt corridor in the municipality of Kappel am Albis . It initially flows in a southerly direction to the confluence of the Arbach in Uerzlikon , where it takes a north-westerly course. In this section, from the source to Rossau , the stream is mostly overturned. In Rossau it takes up the Loobach , which rises only about 100 meters from the source of the Haselbach. At Mettmenstetten the stream briefly changes its course to the south-east, but continues its course in a north-westerly direction at Knonau after the confluence of the largest tributary, the Wattbach , to Maschwanden . It flows through the village in a westerly direction in several small arches and finally flows out at 387 m above sea level. M. from the right into the Lorze, which flows into the Reuss a little later .
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Haselbach measures 19.42 km², of which 66.3% is agricultural area, 20.9% wooded area , 11.3% settlement area, 1.1% unproductive area and 0.5% water area. The highest point of the catchment area is 674 m above sea level. M. directly below the Homberg ( 676 m above sea level ), the average height is 487 m above sea level. M. and the mean annual precipitation is 1170.072 mm.
In addition to the neighboring communities of Kappel am Albis , Knonau , Maschwanden and Mettmenstetten , the communities of Rifferswil in the canton of Zurich and Baar , Cham and Steinhausen in the canton of Zug have a share in the catchment area.
