The Haselbach is an almost 7 km long stream in the Rems-Murr district in northern Baden-Württemberg , which, coming from the north, flows into the upper Murr from the right at the hamlet of Bartenbach in the municipality of Sulzbach an der Murr .

geography

course

The Haselbach rises at over 525  m above sea level. NN a source on the wooded south slope Schanze covered by fields, at the summit 552  m above sea level. Altwald hill reaching NN in the area of the community Großerlach . From here on it flows steadily to the south-southeast for over 6 km. After less than a hundred meters, it crosses under the K 1903, which opens up the Großerlach hamlet of Erlach in the east from the valley path section of the B 14 in the west and continues over the Hohe Brach to Grab ; here it goes over to the municipality mark of Sulzbach an der Murr , in which it now remains until the mouth.

In its more and more deepening, forest-lined Kerbtal, to which several side streams, mostly less than a kilometer long, run at this distance from both sides, some of them mere slope streams, it continues to the edge of the Murrtal. After less than a kilometer, another public road crosses it, the K 1811. which connects the now Sulzbacher hamlet Liemannsklinge to the B 14 on the left edge, after which the valley remains free of public roads up to the first mill in Untertal; the forest paths that sometimes accompany the stream mostly stick to the lower slopes.

About 2.4 km below the origin runs at 369.3  m above sea level. NN from the left and northeast of the 2.1 km long Hüttenbach , a left source branch that comes close to the main upper reaches in length like the catchment area. It rises a little higher than the main branch on the western slope of the Hohen Brach ( 586.9  m above sea level ) and is the most important tributary of all. The valley widens significantly downwards. A little more than four kilometers below the origin there is a clearing on the left bank for the first time, in which the Haselbachmühle building is located, which is connected to the Murrtal via a road on the left slope that will soon merge into the K 1810. This county road has long accompanied the brook on the left edge of the hill through some high hamlets and is now descending from Zwerenberg .

After two further small clearings on the left of the run, at the last of which a Mühlkanal branches off to the left and then runs parallel between the stream and the road on the lower slope, the Haselbach leaves the forest to the bay of its valley mouth a few hundred meters north of the hamlet of Bartenbach . In the hamlet he picks up the Mühlkanal near the Bartenbacher Mühle on the outskirts and then turns west in the flat Murrtalaue. Less than half a kilometer after the outskirts, it finally ends at a dirt road bridge below 272  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the upper Murr flowing from the east-southeast .

Catchment area

The Haselbach has a catchment area of 8.7 km². It extends in the form of a tube of varying thickness from the Altwald hilltop area southeast of Großerlach about 5.6 km south to the mouth west of Bartenbach; across it it reaches its maximum width of 2.5 km on the upper reaches, where the 2.1 km long, unusually large tributary Hüttenbach flows in from the Hohen Brach ; otherwise it is significantly less wide; of the other tributaries that often arise near the Kerbtal slope, the 1.1 km long Brenntsbächle to the lower reaches is the longest.

The highest is the northern watershed to the inflow area of the upper Fichtenberger Rot , which drains to the Kocher , it runs from the northwest corner over the Schwarzjura-Kuppe Altwald ( 552  m above sea level ) over to the next Black Jura island around the Hohe Brach ( 586.4  m above sea level ) on the northeast corner, its summit is the highest point in the catchment area. Direct competitors are on the other side of the Fuchsbach and then the Ochsenbächle with its tributaries.

At the summit of the heights of Brach, the dividing line bends south and runs over the ridge in front of the valley of the upward Murr tributary of Harbach in the east to mostly between 500 and 450  m above sea level. NN to the edge of the Murrtal near Harrenberg on the Harberg (maximum 453.6  m above sea level ), in which it then descends quickly southwest to Bartenbach, to finally flat west to below 272  m above sea level. NN to draw at the confluence with the Murr.

From there, the western watershed rises steeply to the north on the Utschberg ( 429.3  m above sea level ) and then runs slowly and irregularly upwards in front of the downward Murr tributary Fischbach to the old forest , where it is only half a kilometer before the Northwest tip the contour line of 500  m above sea level. Above sea level . The Fischbach has somewhat longer tributaries on the Haselbach side than the Harbach, which is why, despite its greater distance, the western watershed mostly runs closer to the Haselbach than the eastern one.

About two thirds of the catchment area is covered with forest. It fills the basin almost to the edge of the Murrtal, while on the Altwald -Kuppe in the far north, as above all on the edge heights to the right and more to the left, there are larger fields around small hamlets.

In the valley there is only settlement on the lower reaches, here the Haselbachmühle settlement area is to the left of the river in a small clearing. A little later the brook enters the Murrteil through the hamlet of Bartenbach , which is the largest place in the catchment area. The Großerlach hamlet of Erlach lies on the northern watershed , the only settlement that does not belong to the municipality of Sulzbach an der Murr . On the right watershed there is only Berwinkel , on the left edge of the edge Liemannsklinge lies in the north on the mouth of the Hüttenbach in its own clearing island, followed by the hamlet of Eschenstruet and the bus station, opened up by the K 1810, clearly on this side of the watershed, in a long continuous strip of land . then Hager and Zwerenberg on her.

About 0.5 km² of the catchment area in the far north belong to the municipality of Großerlach , the rest to Sulzbach an der Murr .

geology

The origin of the Haselbach lies in the Black Jura of the Altwald -Kuppe, one of the Black Jura islands on the watershed between the valley systems of the Fichtenberger Rot in the east-northeast and the Murr in the south-southwest, to which the cap of the 596.4  m above sea level. NN the highest elevation Hohen Brach of the whole Swabian-Franconian Forest counts, from which the great inlet Hüttenbach rises. He then soon moves over to the Mittelkeuper , in which he remains until the end. In the lower part it runs mainly in the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld Formation ), the west run last in the flat Murrtal lies in its flood sediment.

The lower valley is crossed by fault lines of the extensive subsidence zone Neckar-Jagst-Furche from west-southwest to east-northeast.

Natural space and protected areas

The entire catchment area lies in the natural area of the Swabian-Franconian Forest . The portions to the right of one's own valley run belong to the sub-area of the southwestern Löwenstein mountains , the left in front of it to the rear Mainhardt forest , from its mouth it runs into the Murrtal .

The catchment area is also in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park .

In the far away from traffic Klingen valley and its secondary blades there are several wet biotopes with natural streams, falls over sandstone banks, wet meadows, alder-ash valley forests and a spring forest.
