Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud ( Arabic حسن محمد محمود, DMG Ḥasan Muḥammad Maḥmūd ; * February 10, 1984 ) is an Egyptian hammer thrower .

Athletic career

Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud gained his first international experience in 2007 at the Pan-Arab Games in Cairo , where he won the bronze medal behind his compatriot Mohsen Mohamed Anani and Ali Mohamed al-Zankawi from Kuwait with a width of 68.68 m . In 2009 he took part in the Francophonie Games in Beirut and finished fifth there with 65.95 m and in 2010 he was fourth at the African Championships in Nairobi with a throw of 68.43 m. In 2011 he took part in the Africa Games in Maputo for the first time , where he won the bronze medal with 69.70 m behind his compatriot Mostafa el-Gamel and Chris Harmse from South Africa. He then won the bronze medal at the Arab Championships in al-Ain with 67.15 m behind Kuwait al-Zinkawi and his compatriot Alaa el-Ashry , as well as at the Pan-Arab Games in Doha with 68.22 m behind al-Zinkawi and el-Gamel. In 2013 he won the silver medal behind compatriot el-Gamel at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin with 74.96 m and then took part in the World Championships in Moscow and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang , but was shortly afterwards tested for prohibited doping substances and his results were canceled and Mahmoud banned until 2016.

After his suspension he qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he did not make it to the final with a width of 69.87 m . The following year he also took part in the World Championships in London , but also retired there with 69.92 m in qualification . In 2018 he won the bronze medal at the African Championships in Asaba with 69.90 m behind his compatriots el-Gamel and Eslam Moussad Seria .
