Frankenberger Oberland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Frankenberger Oberland is the practically forest-free northern roofing of the castle forest near the eponymous town of Frankenberg in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district , immediately south of the Eder valley .

In terms of nature , the Frankenberger Oberland (345.5) is assigned to the Burgwald (main unit 345) and is divided into the Bottendorfer Flur (345.50) in the west and the Geismarer Platte (345.51) at the northeastern interface with the Kellerwald . In the southeast, at the Hauberner Hecke (345.510), the Geismarer Platte reaches the Rhine-Weser watershed .

Natural structure

The Frankenberger Oberland is divided as follows:

  • 345.5 Frankenberger Oberland
    • 345.50 Bottendorfer Flur (26.40 km²)
    • 345.51 Geismarer Platte (21.63 km² without Hauberner hedge)
      • 345,510 Hauberner Hecke (8.97 km²)

Location and limits

The Bottendorfer Flur rises with altitudes between about 300 and 350 m above sea level directly between the Frankenberger Grund, which accompanies the valley of the Eder in the north and the northern Burgwald in the south. The Geismarer Platte adjoining it to the east reaches 400 m on the flanks of Burg- (in the south) and Kellerwald (northeast) as well as at the northern interface with the Hessensteiner Wald , the southern part of the Waldstruth , and also on the Hauberner Hecke, which occupies the southeast several times around 430 m.

The adjacent natural areas of Frankenberger Grund and Waldstruth to the north-west are already part of the Eastern Sauerland mountain range that roofs the Rothaar Mountains to the east.

places

In addition to the namesake places Frankenberg and Bottendorf , the place Birkenbringhausen , which occupies the far west, is also located in the Bottendorfer Flur. Both of the latter places belong to the municipality of Burgwald .

The Frankenberg districts Geismar and Haubern give their name to the eastern part . The small district of Dörnholzhausen lies between the two places , and Friedrichshausen to the south-west of it .

In the east of the Geismarer Platte (from north to south) lie the Franconian districts of Ellershausen , Allendorf and Dainrode .

Rivers

The Nemphe (14.2 km, 38.4 km², 294 l / s) reaches the Bottendorfer Flur from the Burgwald south of Bottendorf and flows into Frankenberg . Its right tributary "Kaltes Wasser" (8.7 km, 15.0 km², 112 l / s) already flows into the south of Frankenberg. The Lengelbach (11.4 km, 25.8 km², 210 l / s) rises in the west of the Hauberner Hecke and leaves the Geismarer Platte to the northeast to form the border between Kellerwald and Waldstruth .

A section of the Rhine-Weser watershed runs over the Hauberner Hecke .

geology

Geologically, the Frankenberger Oberland lies in the transition between the red sandstone table of the castle forest and the slate rocks of the eastern Sauerland mountain range . A Zechstein belt , which separates these two rocks from each other, occupies large parts of the Geismarer Platte and is shifted north of the Bottendorfer Flur into the Frankenberger Grund , which is part of the mountain edge .
