Haubern is a village in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg and today a district of Frankenberg (Eder) .

Geographical location

Haubern is located northeast of Knebelsrod , the highest elevation in the castle forest , about 7 km (as the crow flies ) east of the Frankenberg town center on the Eder . The upper reaches of the Eder tributary Lengelbach flows through the village . In the east, Haubern is bounded by the Heckwald and the Bingeberg; in the north and west, the districts of Dainrode and Dörnholzhausen adjoin . The district is about 502 hectares and has a limit length of 10.7 km. The highest district is on the Haubernschen Berg ( 425.7  m above sea  level ).

history

Haubern was first mentioned in a document in 1201 as Howerle . According to a legend, the origin is attributed to three miners (miners) who are said to have dug for gold-bearing ores east of the town. This can be concluded from an old saying that is well known among the people:

To Haubern in the Bingen
there is still gold to be found.
But if you want it,
must dig it deep out of the water.

On 31 December 1970 in the wake of Haubern was municipal reform in Hesse in the city Frankenberg (Eder) (former spelling Frankenberg-Eder ) voluntarily incorporated .
