Viermünden is a district of Frankenberg (Eder) in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg . Viermünden is a state-approved resort .

Geographical location

The place is about six kilometers north of the core city. Federal road 252 runs east of the village, with the Eder flowing next to it . The Warburg – Sarnau railway runs through the village .

Viermünden (Fiormenni) was first mentioned in 850 AD. A certain Gozmar , presumably an ancestor of the Ziegenhain counts, donated seven villages in Hessengau from his possessions to the Fulda monastery this year . The certificate was made out in Affoldern , but the original is no longer preserved. The villages mentioned in this document are Affoldern, Buhlen , Gleichen, Haine , Wollmar Mehlen , Schreufa (Scroufin) and Viermünden.

The Petri Church is one of the oldest hall churches in Hesse (1770–1780). Under the church is the crypt of those of Dersch. The noble family von Viermund had considerable property in Viermünden and is named after the place.

On December 31, 1970 Viermünden the course was municipal reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the city Frankenberg (Eder) (former spelling Frankenberg-Eder ) incorporated .

On October 9, 1968, the municipality of Viermünden in what was then the district of Frankenberg was given a coat of arms with the following blazon : In silver, a black and gold squared sloping bar, with two green, four-leaf clover leaves.

Since September 11, 2015, trains on the Korbach – Frankenberg – Marburg railway have stopped here again .

Trivia

The vernacular still calls the place "Vermen".
