Allendorf is located in the Kellerwald on the edge of the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park , at the foot of the 411 m above sea level. NN high Hardtberg. State road 3332 runs through the village. The Lengelbach tributary of the Eder flows through it .
history
The village was first mentioned on January 21, 1269 as Aldendorf . That year, residents testified that goods were sold to the Haina monastery . In 1482 the place was designated as temporarily desert . In the same year the place belonged to the court Geismar .
During the time of the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia , from 1807 to 1814, Allendorf was administered by the Canton of Frankenau . From 1821 to 1848 the place was part of the Frankenberg district . From 1848 to 1851 Allendorf was administered by the Marburg district. In 1851 the place came back to the Frankenberg district.
In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Allendorf became a district of the city of Frankenau on February 1, 1971 on a voluntary basis. For Allendorf, as for the other parts of the city, a local district with a local advisory board and local council was set up.

The Protestant church is on the outskirts. It was built in timber framing in 1739 . The massive choir has moved in slightly. In 1950 the hall was massively undertaken. The hipped roof is crowned with an octagonal ridge turret. The flat ceiling in the interior rests on an octagonal pillar, the galleries stand on three sides. The pulpit is a work from the 18th century. Together with Louisendorf, Allendorf belongs to the evangelical parish of Ellershausen.

The three largest clubs in Allendorf / Hardtberg are the shooting club Allendorf / Hardtberg, the fire brigade Allendorf / Hardtberg and the home club Allendorf / Hardtberg.
