The village of Altenlotheim has been a district of Frankenau in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg since July 1, 1972 .

geography

Altenlotheim is located in the Kellerwald on the edge of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park . By the Eder influx Lorfe location (Lorfebach) village which runs national road  3085. On the few kilometers southeast of the village situated mountain Talgang are the ruins of Quernstkirche , a former high church, and the Quernstkapelle .

history

Altenlotheim was previously mentioned in connection with Schmittlotheim and Kirchlotheim and referred to as "Lotheim" since 1074. The village was first mentioned as an Altenlotheim in 1258 in connection with a transfer of goods to the Haina monastery .

On July 1, 1972, Altenlotheim was incorporated into the city of Frankenau on a voluntary basis as part of the regional reform in Hesse . For Altenlotheim, as for the other parts of the city, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.

Culture and sights

  • In August 2008 the Heideerlebnispfad was opened.
  • In the competition Our village has a future , Altenlotheim won the silver medal at state level in 2007.
  • In the small town there are relatively many associations that are also active in the cultural field.
  • Altenlotheim belongs to the Evangelical Parish of Kirchlotheim.
  • Outside the village at 535 m above sea ​​level you can find the ruins of the Quernstkirche, a former mountain church. There is a chapel there today.
  • In 2010 local resident Christian Durstewitz won third place in Our Star for Oslo .
