Manor House Sölde

House Sölde is a former manor in eastern Dortmund district Sölde .

The estate was built in the 13th century and was then under the suzerainty of the Lords of Volmarstein . In 1402 it became the property of the Lords of Hövel zu Sölde .

Eleven farms and cottages in Sölde belonged to Haus Sölde. In 1839 Baron von Hövel sold his possessions, including Haus Sölde, to Carl Overweg zu Iserlohn , who in turn sold it to Caspar H. Neuhoff called Schulze-Dellwig (1815-1894) in 1841 .

His descendants, son Theodor (1845–1919), grandson Walther (* 1887) and great-grandson Theodor managed the Sölde farm as a large farm until the 1980s.

Today the buildings are used as residential units. They are registered as an architectural monument in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund .

The large agricultural operation included land not only in Sölde, but also in Holzwickede and Fröndenberg-Altendorf . The total assets at the beginning of the century give an idea of the size of the company. They were around a million marks. The Schulze-Dellwig family owned extensive collieries; Because of her wealth she must be counted among the most important economic citizens of the Dortmund area.

With the exception of three correspondence cards and two files, the inventory consists exclusively of business books. It therefore primarily enables an overview of the management of a large agricultural operation in the immediate vicinity of the industrial area. Cross-connections to the Margarethe and Freiberg collieries in Sölden are repeatedly noticed. In particular, however, the production of agricultural products and the trade with them on the outskirts of the industrial city of Dortmund is documented.

This is reflected in bookkeeping that was in no way inferior to that of merchants and was based on a system of preliminary, main and subsidiary books. As far as can be seen, the farm used the most modern agricultural accounting methods. The basis of all records was the operating diary or work book, called "Graues Elend" (F 126 No. 33) by the administrator due to the detail of the scope and the external appearance (gray linen cover).
