Hausen is a district of Schelklingen in the Alb-Donau district , about 20 km west of Ulm . In addition to Hausen oU, the term Hausen has been heard more frequently in Schelklingen lately.

geography

Hausen is located on the plateau of the Swabian Alb at 720 meters above sea level (NN).

history

The village of Hausen was first mentioned in 1260 as Husin supra monte ultra Shaelclingin . However, the place is older and should have been laid out in the older expansion period. In addition to Hausen, the two desert areas of Dusshälden and Preilstetten are said to have been located on the village markings .

Hausen oU did not have its own local nobility in the Middle Ages. The farms were owned by many different landlords. However, by the middle of the 14th century, the Urspring Monastery managed to acquire most of the farms. Hausen oU therefore became a central part of the origin of the monastery.

Hausen is not located directly on the connecting road from Schelklingen to Justingen, today's state road 240, but is laid out in a hollow to the north, which slopes down to the north. The original shape is therefore that of a circular cluster village . The courtyards are within the circle and are accessed by a circular road. Later, farms were also laid out outside this district, extending the access roads and dirt roads.

Inside the oldest circular structure is the parish church of St. George, which was surrounded by a wall (land map approx. 1820), inside which the cemetery was located. The old sacristan and school house was placed on the churchyard wall in the south. The parsonage and the parsonage behind it is located directly north of the parish church.

The former village shell was located in a hollow, in which the rainwater could collect, on the corner of Ringstrasse and Langengasse. This was filled up in 1892/93 and built over with a new brick school building.

A village used to have a bakery, a poor house and, in particular, a village blacksmith's shop. Except for the community bakery, these facilities are no longer available.

Religions

There has been a Roman Catholic parish in Hausen since the High Middle Ages . The parish church was first mentioned in 1260 when the community Hausen oU was first mentioned: in that year Hermann, abbot of the Blaubeuren monastery, sold the town of Hausen oU together with the patronage rights to the Urspring monastery. The Liber Decimationis of 1275 names Hausen oU as an old, separate parish. The patronage of the parish church is St. George.

  • The atonement cross on the Hausener Steige from 1574.

gastronomy

Up until the 18th century there was no restaurant in Hausen, because the feudal lord, Count Schenk von Castell, did not want to allow an economy to develop because of the bread and butter of the Schelkling innkeepers. The so-called Prutschwirtschaft - today's Rößle - has existed since the end of the 18th century . It was already in the possession of the Schmuker family at that time. The first Prutschwirt, Johann Georg Schmuker, had come to Hausen from Magolsheim . In 1893 , Erasmus Baumeister opened the Zur Sonne inn , after having previously acquired the Hirschen in the lower village and relocating commercial justice to his farm. The sun is also still owned by the family.
