Haussmann or Haußmann is a German-speaking family name , derived from the term Hausmann , which is also available as a family name. There are two large families of German origin who bear this name and to each of which several well-known people can be assigned.

Haussmann (Bad Tennstedt)

One family comes from Bad Tennstedt in Thuringia and comes from the stone carver Hans Haussmann (1582–1636). A branch of this family emigrated to Colmar , the most famous representative of which was the French Prefect Georges-Eugène Haussmann (1809-1891), known for the urban redevelopment of Paris.

Haussmann (Reudern)

The second extended family comes from Reudern near Oberboihingen in Württemberg , their earliest known ancestor is Hans Haußmann, who was born around 1450 and died before 1526. His sons lived in Oberboihingen and founded several branches of this family, to which numerous well-known people belong:
