Hawk Ostby

Hawk Ostby (* 1966 as Haakon Nygaard-Østby in India ) is a Norwegian - American screenwriter and television producer who became internationally known for films such as Children of Men , Iron Man or Cowboys & Aliens . With his colleague Mark Fergus , he developed the series The Expanse for television in 2015 .

life and career

Hawk Ostby was born in India to a Norwegian and an Indian. He then grew up in Nostrand and Slemdal in Oslo . His sisters were born in Sweden . Ostby moved to Malaysia at the age of 15 and later to Singapore , and has lived in the United States since he was 19. The first scripts were written while working as an employee on a cable TV Showtime Network in New York City .

Ostby has been a screenwriter in the film business since the early 2000s. His breakthrough came in 2003 together with Mark Fergus for the cinema production Consequence by director Anthony Hickox . In 2006 he wrote the script for the Guy Pearce thriller First Snow together with Fergus . Mark Fergus also directed the film. For Alfonso Cuarón's science fiction drama Children of Men with Clive Owen in the lead role, he received an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2007 together with Cuarón, Mark Fergus, David Arata and Timothy J. Sexton . In 2008 he also worked with Fergus and a few other fellow writers on the Marvel film version Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. In 2011, he shared the credits with six other screenwriters for the science fiction film Cowboys & Aliens , which was cast by Daniel Craig , Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde .

In 2015 Ostby got involved in ten episodes as a screenwriter and producer for the mystery science fiction television series The Expanse with Thomas Jane , developed by him and his colleague Mark Fergus.
