Hedwig Elisabeth Amalia from the Palatinate
Hedwig Elisabeth Amalia von Pfalz-Neuburg (* July 18, 1673 in Düsseldorf , † August 11, 1722 in Ohlau ) was a princess and Countess Palatine of Neuburg and, by marriage, Crown Princess of Poland .
Life
Hedwig Elisabeth was a daughter of Elector Philipp Wilhelm von der Pfalz (1615–1690) from his second marriage to Elisabeth Amalie (1635–1709), daughter of Landgrave Georg II of Hesse-Darmstadt .
Hedwig Elisabeth married the Polish Crown Prince Jakob Louis Heinrich Sobieski (1667–1737), the son of King John III, in Warsaw on February 25, 1691 . The New Burgess estates had contributed to the bride's trousseau. Hedwig Elisabeth's eldest sister Eleonore Magdalene had been the wife of the Roman-German Emperor Leopold I since 1676. In 1691, Leopold I pledged the office of Ohlau to his sister-in-law and her husband for 400,000 guilders. The couple resided in the castle there and their work led to a considerable upswing in Ohlaus. Hedwig Elisabeth had a castle built in the town of Pilica .
Hedwig Elisabeth died at the age of 49 in Ohlau and was probably buried in the Breslau Cathedral .
