Life

Hedy Fassler initially trained as a ballet dancer at the Willy Fränzel ballet school from 1936 to 1938 , but later decided to study singing. She received her singing training from 1948 (in the following period until 1954) with Fritzi Lahr in Vienna.

Fassler made her stage debut in 1948 at the Stadttheater Wien as Franzi in the operetta Ein Walzertraum .

In the following years she had engagements as soubrette at the Vienna State Opera (season 1947/48; season 1954/55), at the Stadttheater Wien (1948–1954), at the Vienna Citizens' Theater and at the Raimundtheater (1953/54, as Franzi in Ein Walzertraum ) . Her stage roles included Eros in Orpheus in der Unterwelt (Wiener Staatsoper 1947/48), Hanni in Frühlingsluft (Bürgertheater Wien 1952), Nelly in Der Obersteiger (Raimundtheater 1953), Wanda in Polenblut (Wiener Staatsoper 1954/55), Wally in Tausend and one night after Johann Strauss (Vienna State Opera 1954/55), Pepi in Wiener Blut (Vienna State Opera 1954/55), Ciboletta in One Night in Venice (Vienna State Opera 1955), Juliette Vermont in Der Graf von Luxemburg (Vienna State Opera 1954 / 55) and Valencienne in The Merry Widow (Wiener Staatsoper 1955).

At the end of the 1940s, Fassler also took part in a number of films, mainly in comedies and rather shallow musical comedies.

Fassler's voice has been passed down through some audio documents. In a cross-section of the operetta When the Little Violets Bloom , she can be heard under the musical direction of Robert Stolz in the soubrette role of Liesel alongside Melitta Muszely and Ferry Gruber . When ORF 1960 a complete recording of the operetta was So one makes career of Nico Dostal , where she took over the role of Michou. She also sang the role of Spelunken Jenny in excerpts from Brecht / Weill's Die Dreigroschenoper .

Fassler was married to the operetta buffo, comedian and director Otto Fassler (1904–1990). Their son was the hero tenor Wolfgang Fassler (1944–1997), who died in a car accident.

She was buried in the urn grove of the Simmering fire hall (5-10-654) in Vienna.
