Heide Frielinghaus

Heide Frielinghaus (* 1968 in Dortmund ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Heide Frielinghaus studied from 1987 to 1994 in the main subject Classical Archeology and in the minor subjects Ancient and Medieval and Modern History at the Ruhr University Bochum and the Ruprecht Karls University Heidelberg . From 1992 to 1994 she was funded by a doctoral scholarship from the German Study Foundation. In 1993 she spent three months researching in Apulia and Rome . He received his doctorate in 1994 with a dissertation on the subject of locals in Apulian vase painting. Iconography in the field of tension between producer and recipient . In 1995/96 Frielinghaus received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) and then until 1999 general advisor at the Athens Department of the DAI. Another study visit funded by the DAI took her to the USA in autumn 2000. Between 1999 and 2005 Frielinghaus was a research assistant to Burkhardt Wesenberg at the University of Regensburg . The habilitation took place in December 2004, the license to teach in January 2005. In addition, she became senior assistant and private lecturer at the Chair of Classical Archeology in Regensburg. In May of that year she became a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute. In the summer semester, Frielinghaus was a substitute professor at the Institute for Classical Archeology at the University of Vienna , and since 2008 she has been teaching at the Institute for Classical Archeology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . Frielinghaus is particularly concerned with Roman sarcophagi, Greek helmets as well as Greek ceramics and vase painting. She heads the research projects Changes in the Votive and Consecration Present Volume of the Sanctuaries of Olympia , Delphi , Dodona , Perachora and Delos as well as actor performances in the Roman Empire .
