Holy Spirit Church (Tüschenbroich)
The Heilig-Geist-Kirche is the Roman Catholic branch church in the Wegberg district of Tüschenbroich in the district of Heinsberg ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
history
A first chapel for Tüschenbroich was built in the 1870s and consecrated on June 24, 1873. In 1907 Tüschenbroich was raised to an independent parish and the chapel was given the status of a parish church . Until then, Tüschenbroich was probably a branch of the Wegberger parish. The chapel became too small in the early 1930s and was replaced in 1932 by a new building designed by the Cologne architect Hans-Peter Fischer. The foundation stone was laid on July 12, 1932 and the consecration took place on November 20, 1932.
Since January 1, 2013, Tüschenbroich is no longer an independent parish. The parish was merged with some other former parishes to form the parish of St. Martin Wegberg. Since then, the Heilig-Geist-Kirche has been a subsidiary church of this new large parish.
architecture
Heilig Geist is a church in the style of the New Building based on plans by Hans-Peter Fischer in a north-east-south-west orientation. The building is a rectangular two-aisled hall church made of bricks. The structure is 28 meters long and 9 meters wide. The bell tower is attached to the side of the ship in the southwest. Furthermore, the building is divided by elongated arched windows. The narrow side aisle is separated from the central nave by arched arcades . The entire structure is spanned with a flat ceiling.
Furnishing
In the choir there is a wooden crucifixion group by the Ellwangen sculptor Hans Scheble from 1936 and a modern folk altar and an ambo . In the nave there is also a Way of the Cross and a small organ with seven registers from 1934 by the Karl Bach Organ Builders from Aachen . The windows are works by the Aachen artist Maria Katzgrau and were used in 1940.
