Holy Family and St. Stephanus (Wehrden)
The Catholic parish church of the Holy Family and St. Stephanus is a listed church building in Wehrden , a district of the city of Beverungen in the Höxter district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). It belongs to the parish of the Holy Trinity Beverungen in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
history
The simple, three-bay hall was built in 1698 by Ambrosius von Oelde . The tower has moved into the west building. The hall opens to a choir with 5 / 8 -Schluss. The column portals are decorated with coats of arms. The altar and the pulpit , each made of wood, date from the time the church was built. The wooden Vespers picture was made in the 17th century.
To the north of the church is the estate and Wehrden Castle .
Furnishing
- The high altar comes from the Paderborn sculptor Heinrich Gröne
- The altarpiece with the representation of the Holy Family is said to have been painted by Johann Georg Rudolphi
- The pulpit is also by Heinrich Gröne
- The lead glass windows in grisaille painting are decorated with the coats of arms of members of the prince-bishop's family.
- Two baroque portals are crowned with coats of arms and provided with mascarons .
- The Wolff-Metternich family had a small family cemetery built on the north side in 1853.
