The Heiligenberg between Altendorf and Heimarshausen in the northern Hessian district of Kassel is 380  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Ostwaldecker Randsenken in the West Hessian highlands . There is a mixed forest .

The Heiligenberg is located in the southwest part of the Habichtswald Nature Park, east of the Old Forest , which belongs to the Waldecker Forest . It is located between the villages of Altendorf in the north and Heimarshausen in the south, both districts of Naumburg . The Elbe , a northern tributary of the Eder, runs east past the mountain in a north-north-west-south-south-east direction .

Natural allocation

The Heiligenberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group West Hessisches Bergland (No. 34), in the main unit Ostwaldecker Randsenken (341) and in the subunit Naumburger Senken und Ridge (341.4) to the natural area Elbergrund (341.41). It represents a singularity (Zeugenberg) of the 4th to 7th order.

On the plateau-like summit of goats Default reset ( 318.2  m ), the southeastern foothills of Mount Heiligenberg, is the giant stone from Heimarshausen , an approximately 9 m high, jagged and white-red sandstone rocks, the place of sacrifice in prehistoric place of worship and the observatory was and is now designated as a natural monument .
