The Heinenberg rises in the Siegerland Rothaar foothills near the border with the Rothaar Mountains and in the Sauerland-Rothaar Mountains Nature Park . It belongs to the mountain ridge located between the valley of the Sieg and that of its tributary Werthenbach , which includes the Hellerkopf ( 551.8 m ) in the east and Auf der Noll ( 474.1 m ) in the west-southwest. Its summit is located in the district of Grissenbach 1.5 km south-south-west of the center of Nenkersdorf and 1.4 km south-east of the center of Grissenbach, both of which are located on the Sieg, and 2.8 km north-north-west of the center of Irmgarteichen and 1.9 km (as the crow flies) ) northeast of the center of Salchendorf , both of which are located on the Werthenbach; they are all districts of Netphen .

Flowing waters
On the southwest slope of the Heinenberg rises (in the transition area to the mountain Auf der Noll ) the small and about 1000 m long Hellsbach , which flows into the Sieg in Grissenbach, on its northeast edge the small and 790 m long Strubach , which feeds the Altwiesenbach , and on its south-eastern edge is the 2.3 km long Schalkenbach , which flows into the Werthenbach in Salchendorf .
Forest cover and landscape protection
The Heinenberg is only partially forested, as part of the forest on its summit area fell victim to Hurricane Kyrill . A single spruce tree existed as a prominent point on the tree-free part of the summit region, which Kyrill spared. This has now been felled and replaced by a newly planted chestnut tree. Parts of the landscape protection area Netphen ( CDDA no. 390136; designated 1985; 118.9074 km² ) are located on the mountain .
hike
About the Heineberg an extensive network of trails, including that of Deuz coming, and that leads Stiegelburg leading Rothaarsteig -Zubringer. A viewing bench is set up in the summit area.
