Heiner Zametzer (born April 10, 1937 in Bayreuth ; † October 27, 2006 ) was a German cultural historian and cultural scientist .

Life

After Zametzer had moved to Munich in 1955, he began to study painting at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1957 to 1962 .

He then trained in pedagogy, which he completed with the state examination in 1964. In Regensburg and Munich, he worked until 1967 as a teacher in art education in the years 1964th From 1967 he worked in the area of ​​district art.

He co-founded the artist group Team 67 , which showed itself through diverse and interdisciplinary performances in Munich, Regensburg and Aarhus . Furthermore, from 1970 to 1973 he took part in artistic competitions, the Aktion Kunst am Bau and in various offices that worked in the field of architecture and design.

In 1973 he began studying sociology and psychology, which he completed in 1979 as a qualified sociologist. From 1977 he took on a position in the cultural department of the city of Munich and in the following years built up extensive fields of district, child and youth culture as a department head, whereby he also worked in cultural work for foreign citizens, the development of history workshops and the associated problems dedicated to spatial planning and development. During this time he also developed the concept of comprehensive district cultural institutions (cultural centers, cultural shops), which then emerged in Munich in the course of the 1990s.

In 1977 he took part in the founding of the association Call for Fantasy . In 1987, as part of his civil service career, he was promoted to cultural director in the cultural department of the city of Munich. In this role he also developed cultural model projects for disadvantaged young people. In the field of urban culture, he worked on research topics that were interdisciplinary, whereby he gained international recognition, especially in the area of ​​urban culture.

With Oskar Negt he obtained his doctorate at the University of Hanover in 1990 with his thesis Cultural District Work - Vorfeld proletarian Public: an application of the term to clarify and legitimize a cultural-political field . In the following years, his field of work expanded to the European level, where he was involved in the development of new cross-sectoral cultural concepts within the framework of the Council of Europe's Culture and Neighborhood project for major European cities.

After 1998 he moved to Oberndorf in Tirol in the Kitzbühel district and to Vienna . From 1999 to 2001 he took on the development of the cultural part of the Munich urban development concept Perspective 2000 . After retiring from the public service for reasons of age in 2003, he returned to his artistic work.

Heiner Zametzer was also a very good athlete: in 1963 he was the first German to reach a distance of more than 80 meters in a javelin throw.
