Controversy over Johannes Ponader
In an interview with the Bild newspaper , Alt criticized Johannes Ponader , the political director of the Pirate Party , who is politically active and at the same time receives social benefits . He saw in it self-realization "at the expense of the taxpayer". For his part, Ponader accused Alt of having called the chairman of the Pirate Party, Bernd Schlömer , to ask why the Ponader party was not paying a salary. According to Ponader, the office of federal managing director is an honorary position . Alt confirmed the call to the Bild newspaper . But he did this out of “a fundamental interest in the Pirate Party” and “certainly not because of Mr. Ponader”. On the other hand, when asked by stern.de , Alt's press officer wanted to “neither confirm nor deny” whether Ponader's ALG-II payments had been discussed in the conversation between Alt and Schlömer. According to the online magazine, however, it was “very much about Ponader's Hartz IV benefits”. In a separate article for the FAZ , Ponader had previously criticized Alt for breaking social secrecy .
