Heinrich Kilber

Heinrich Kilber (rarely also Henricus Kilber ; born March 8, 1710 in Mainz , † October 25, 1783 in Heidelberg ) was a Roman Catholic theologian , Jesuit priest and university professor .

Life

Kilber was the son of a cobbler. In 1728 he entered the Mainz novitiate of the Jesuit order . From 1732 he devoted himself to studying theology at the University of Würzburg and was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD . He initially taught Humaniora and from 1743 to 1747 philosophy at the Jesuit institutions in Mainz and Heidelberg .

Kilber went to the University of Fulda as a professor of theology in 1749 , where he taught dogmatics. In 1750/1751 he switched to the chair of dogmatics at the University of Würzburg. In 1764 he received the newly established chair for exegesis at the Würzburg University. In 1771 he left Würzburg and was placed on the side of the provincial in Heidelberg, before he was appointed rector of the Seminarium Carolinum in Heidelberg in 1772 , an educational institution of the Jesuits for so-called higher studies.

With the abolition of the Jesuit order , Kilber lost his position. He was subsequently appointed to the reign of the seminary in Heidelberg and received an assessor position at the theological faculty of Heidelberg University .
