Thomas Holtzclau

Thomas Holtzclau (also Holtzklau ; * December 18, 1716 in Hadamar ; † June 4, 1783 in Würzburg ) was a Roman Catholic theologian , Jesuit priest and university professor .

Life

Holtzclau entered the Jesuit order in 1736 and first taught philosophy at the Jesuit school in Würzburg from 1752 and then dogmatics and exegesis at the institutions of the Jesuits in Molsheim and Mainz . When did he go to Dr. theol. PhD is not known. In 1760 he was appointed to the chair of dogmatics at the theological faculty of the University of Würzburg , in 1771 he was also appointed professor of exegesis.

Even after the Jesuit order was abolished in 1773, Holtzclau retained his professorship at the University of Würzburg, and after the abolition he held the post of dean of the theological faculty twice .
