Heinrich Maria Gietl

Heinrich Maria Gietl (born November 1, 1851 in Munich ; † January 6, 1918 there ) was a German priest and canon lawyer .

Life

Gietl studied philosophy and theology at the Ludwig Maximilians University . In 1875 he was ordained a priest in Freising Cathedral . In the same year he joined the Dominican Order in Graz and took the name Ambrosius. Gietl taught at the University of Friborg for some time . In 1895 he resigned from the order for health reasons. From 1896 he worked as a beneficiary at the Munich Liebfrauendom . In 1904 he was finally appointed full professor for canon law at the Ludwig Maximilians University. 1908–1909 and 1915–1916 he held the office of dean of the theological faculty.

Gietl died in Munich in 1918.

Anton Scharnagl was a pupil of Gietl .
