Heinrich Tauchert

Heinrich Tauchert (born January 24, 1934 in Dauerthal ; † September 4, 2017 ) was a German youth functionary ( FDJ ) and secret service officer of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) of the GDR . He was deputy to the head of the Enlightenment Headquarters (HVA).

Life

The son of a milker worked as a farm worker after primary school from 1948. He joined the FDJ in 1949 and became a full-time FDJ functionary after attending the “Wilhelm Pieck” youth college in 1951/52. In 1952 he became a member of the SED . Tauchert became first secretary of the FDJ district leadership Lübben in 1952 , in 1953 the FDJ district leadership Senftenberg and in 1954 again the FDJ district leadership Lübben. After visiting the Komsomol University in Moscow in 1955/56, he returned to the role of First Secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Lübben. From 1959 to 1961 he acted as second secretary and from 1961 to 1965 as first secretary of the FDJ district management in Cottbus (successor to Hubert Matros). At the same time he was a member of the SED district leadership and its office. At the VII. Parliament of the FDJ in June 1963 he was elected a member of the Central Council of the FDJ.

In 1965 he was employed by the MfS. He began his service at the HVA, headed Department XII / Unit 5 from 1971 to 1973 and Department XII / Unit 1 from 1973 to 1977. At the same time, he was Deputy Head of Department XII (NATO / EG) from 1973 to 1983. From June 1983 to July 1987 he was head of Department IV (military espionage). In August 1987 he was promoted to deputy head of the HVA. The divisions IV (military reconnaissance of the FRG), XI (reconnaissance North America) and XII (reconnaissance NATO) belonged to his service area. Tauchert was appointed major general in 1989 by the chairman of the National Defense Council of the GDR , Erich Honecker , and was dismissed from service in 1990.

After the reunification in the GDR , he became a member of the Initiative Group for the Protection of Social Rights (ISOR) and chairman of the spokesman's council of the “Initiative for Just Pensions”, which is a member of the East German board of trustees of associations . Tauchert last lived in Berlin and died at the age of 83.
