Heinrich Uukkivi (* April 27 . Jul / 10. May  1912 . Greg in Hungerburg , Governorate of Estonia ; † 12. April 1943 in the Krasnoyarsk region , Soviet Union ) was an Estonian football - and hockey player .

Career

Heinrich Uukkivi was born in 1912 in Hungerburg in the far northeast of the Estonia Governorate . From 1919 the city was called Narva-Jõesuu.

From there he came to the Estonian capital Tallinn in 1928 to play football for the local Tallinna JK . In the early 1930s Uukkivi studied at Tallinn University of Technology . From 1932 to 1940 the center forward played for JS Estonia Tallinn , with whom he won the Estonian championship five times in a row.

In July 1931 Uukkivi made his debut in the Estonian national team against Sweden . A month later, he took part in the Baltic Cup 1931 with the selection of Estonia . In the competition, this was used in the first of two international matches against Lithuania . There he was also in the starting line-up but had to be substituted for Arnold Pihlak after 46 minutes . After two wins in the tournament, Uukkivi was able to win the Baltic Cup for the first time ; this succeeded again at the 1938 staging .

Uukkivi also took part in qualifying for the 1934 World Cup, as well as in qualifying for the 3rd World Cup in 1938 . For Estonia Heinrich Uukkivi came to a total of 46 missions, in which he scored 7 goals.

Private life

Uukkivi worked in private life for the Estonian Railways, then from 1936 to 1940 for the Estonian state printing company Riigi Trükikoda .

death

Heinrich Uukkivi was drafted into the Red Army during the Second World War and fought for the Soviet Union. He was captured by the enemy and sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Soviet authorities. Uukkivi died at the age of 30 in a Siberian prison camp in the Krasnoyarsk Territory .
