Henry VI. (Glogau-Sagan)

Henry VI. von Glogau (also Heinrich VI. "the Elder" ; * before 1345 ; † December 5, 1393 ) was from 1369 to 1378 ( together with his brothers ) Duke of Sagan and ( ducal ) Glogau and from 1378 sole Duke of Sagan and Crossen . He was a feudal man of the Crown of Bohemia and came from the Glogau branch of the Silesian Piasts .

Life

His parents were Heinrich V "the Iron" († 1369) and Anna († 1363), daughter of Duke Wacław von Płock . In 1372 he married Hedwig († 1409), a daughter of Duke Wenceslas I of Liegnitz .

When his father Heinrich V died in 1369, Heinrich VI. d. Ä. and his younger brothers Heinrich VII. "Rampold" and Heinrich VIII. "Sperling" not yet of legal age. Therefore, they were placed under the guardianship of Duke Ruprecht I of Liegnitz , who married her sister Hedwig, who was already widowed at the time, in 1372. The Liegnitz Duke Ludwig played a mediator role in the inheritance disputes that arose . He was a brother-in-law of her late father and managed to avoid dividing the territory he had left behind. In 1372 Heinrich VI married. d. Ä. with Hedwig, a sister of the Liegnitz duke Heinrich VII.

When the division took place in 1378, Heinrich VI. d. Ä. the Duchy of Sagan and Crossen. The division had no dynastic effects, since Henry VI. d. Ä. 1393 and his brother Heinrich VII. "Rumpold" died just one year later, also without descendants. Thus, the entire property, except for half of Guhrau , which had to be given to Oels , came in 1394 to the youngest brother Heinrich VIII. "Sperling".
