Life

After the death of their father in 1364, Heinrich and his older siblings were initially under the guardianship of their uncle Ludwig I. After the eldest brother Ruprecht came of age in 1368, he took over the guardianship of Heinrich and his siblings. At the same time Heinrich and his brothers Wenzel and Boleslaw became co-regents of Ruprecht.

In order to avoid a further division of the Duchy of Liegnitz, Heinrich, like his older brothers Wenzel and Boleslaw, was chosen by his parents for a spiritual career. In 1378 he received a canonical at the Breslau collegiate monastery Heilig Kreuz , a year later he became dean of the Breslau cathedral chapter . On May 21, 1379, together with his brothers in Prague, he paid homage to the Bohemian King Wenceslaus IV. In the same year he was appointed administrator of the diocese of Breslau, which has been since the death of Bishop Preczlaw von Pogarell in 1376 by the double election of Dietrich von Klattau as well by Johannes von Neumarkt was in a sedis vacancy .

After Heinrich's brother Ruprecht I sent him a barrel of Schweidnitzer beer at Christmas 1380 , which was confiscated by the city of Breslau, the so-called Breslau Beer War broke out , which lasted until 1382. As a result, Heinrich lost the position of diocese administrator in 1381, which, however, was transferred to his brother Wenzel in the same year, who became Bishop of Wroclaw after the pacification in 1382.

In 1389/90, Heinrich was succeeded by the Opole Duke Johann I by Pope Bonifatius IX. appointed Bishop of Kuyavia. Nevertheless, he stayed mainly on the Liegnitzer Herzogshof as well as with his brother in Breslau and Ottmachau . He died in Silesia and was buried in the Breslau Cathedral .
