Heinrich Wolgast (politician)

Heinrich Wolgast (born December 17, 1905 in Elmenhorst ; † March 18, 1982 ) was a German politician of the FDP .

Life and work

After leaving the upper secondary school with the upper secondary qualification (equivalent to the technical college qualification ), Wolgast, who was of Protestant faith , completed an apprenticeship as an electrician at Siemens-Schuckert in Hamburg from 1923 to 1925 . From 1925 to 1928 he studied electrical engineering at the technical state schools in Hamburg, which he graduated as an engineer. He then worked as a fitter at various Hamburg companies before joining the high-level telecommunications service of the Reichspost . After his preparatory service in Hamburg, he worked from 1932 to 1945 in the district of the Oberpostdirektion Königsberg .

After Wolgast returned to Elmenhorst as a refugee after the Second World War , he was employed as a post office clerk in the telecommunications service of the Oberpostdirektion Hamburg. Wolgast was married and had three children.

Political party

Wolgast joined the FDP in 1948 and became chairman of the party in the Stormarn district in 1951 .

Wolgast was from 1948 to 1951 and since 1955 a member of the district council in the Stormarn district.

From 1950 to 1967 Wolgast was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein . He represented the constituency of Stormarn-Nord in parliament. From 1954 to 1962 he was chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the state parliament. From 1954 to 1958 he headed the parliamentary committee for the constitution and rules of procedure. From 1958 to 1966 he was deputy chairman of the state parliament's committee for work and development.

The state parliament elected Wolgast as a member of the second federal assembly , which on July 17, 1954 re-elected Theodor Heuss as federal president .

Honors

Wolgast was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class on December 30, 1966 .
