Curt Hoffmann (politician)

Curt Hoffmann (born November 16, 1897 in Greifenhagen / Oder ; † November 29, 1961 in Lübeck ) was a German political scientist and politician of the FDP .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Hoffmann studied economics and law at the University of Greifswald . From 1922 to 1945 he was in-house counsel and managing director of the IHK Stettin . From 1932 he was also managing director of the freight forwarders association. After the Second World War , he settled in Lübeck in 1945 as a displaced person. In 1946 he found a job as a commercial clerk. In 1949 he became managing director of the Association of Salted Herring Importers in Germany.

He was one of the founders of the Pomeranian Landsmannschaft and was elected chairman of the working group of home district supervisors within the Landsmannschaft on July 30, 1949 (until January 11, 1950).

Curt Hoffmann, who in 1949 joined the FDP, was from 1950 bis 1954 Member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein , where he represented the constituency Lübeck Center, and since February 24, 1952 chairman of the FDP . He was also a member of the first German Bundestag from June 15, 1951, when he replaced Fritz Oellers , until the end of the electoral term. He was a member of the 1954 Federal Assembly , which re-elected Theodor Heuss as Federal President.
