Heinrich von Tiedemann

Heinrich Ferdinand Joachim von Tiedemann (born July 9, 1924 in Bad Tölz , † August 1, 2020 in Aumühle near Hamburg) was a German journalist .

Life

Heinrich von Tiedemann, who grew up in Berlin , Borkow , Aabenraa and boarding school in Brandenburg an der Havel , moved to Hamburg after the end of his military service in World War II . The son of the diplomat Heinrich Helmuth Erich Egyd and Ada von Tiedemann, née Countess von Kalnein, literary studies and took first steps as a writer. He published his first novels and children's books, under the pseudonym "Severin Gelb" also detective novels for the Hans von Hugo publishing house , which employed him from 1949 to 1951 as an editor.

On the side, von Tiedemann already worked as an author of features, glosses, commentaries and radio plays for the NWDR , from 1956 NDR . In 1961, the station employed him as a writer and editor in the main politics department. In 1963 Heinrich von Tiedemann succeeded Peter Scholl-Latour as ARD correspondent for West Africa in Dakar , and from 1966 until 1969 he worked as Scandinavian correspondent for NDR and WDR in Stockholm .

In 1970 von Tiedemann took over the management of the training department for television editors at NDR in Hamburg, and in 1972 he was appointed "First Editor" of the Radio Politics department (focus on foreign policy). After six years in Hamburg, Heinrich von Tiedemann returned to Sweden on behalf of ARD in April 1975 on the occasion of the hostage-taking from Stockholm . From the top floor of the main Swedish television building opposite the embassy , he reported live on the event for all ARD stations, whereupon the NDR decided to revive the now closed Scandinavian studio.

In 1976 Heinrich von Tiedemann took up the post as Scandinavia correspondent for ARD for NDR, WDR and SDR again before finally returning to Hamburg in 1983, where he was head of the “Zeitfunk” editorial team until his early retirement in 1986 the current news production.

After his retirement von Tiedemann continued to work as a freelance writer for the time, among other things .

The journalist was a third married and had two children from his first marriage. He was the grandson of the politician Heinrich von Tiedemann-Seeheim .
